Sales Process Step 6: Negotiations and Further Screening of Buyers
Negotiations between the parties can often become intense. Even after the parties come to an agreement with respect to the basic terms of the purchase, there will be plenty of opportunities for the deal to fall apart as the myriad of details are worked through. Although the client is involved in the entire process, they are allowed to concentrate on operating their business while our professionals attend to all the details.
At some point after an offer is accepted, but before any legal fees are incurred in structuring the transaction, we will obtain the buyer's credit report in order to investigate any derogatory items and conduct a "public records" search of court records and liens that may have been filed in the buyer's name. We may also check for buyer references with individuals that have had past business dealings with the buyer and therefore have little or no incentive to provide positive feedback.
